Pond Maintenance

Pond News:
The Master Association has spent approximately $20,000 over the last two years on improvements to our pond.  Specifically the expenditures have been as follows:

2017:
  • $9725 - Dredging muck from the bottom of the pond to create a depth of 13 feet around the fountains; and depositing the muck into the large canvas sediment bag, that sat on our shoreline longer than expected because of heavy rains.                                  
2018:
  • $5100 - Added two new diffusers to augment the two fountains; the diffusers will run all winter long to help aerate the water.                                                                    
  • $3800 - Added a monthly maintenance package with a pond specialist to control algae
  • $5200 - Sediment bag was removed                                         
2019 Budget:
The Board approved the proposed 2019 Budget at the Oct. 22 meeting.

The largest expense by far in the Master annual budget is for Comcast cable bundle provided to each unit.  The Board has analyzed the cost of this service, and determined that it is a very good value for the Community and should be contnued.

Reserve Study:
The Board commissioned a Reserve Study from Waldman to determine if the association's current reserves are adequate to meet future expenses.  The Reserve Study was completed and we are adequately funded.

Misc:

Village of Schaumurg Owned Tree Replacement:
Due to the number of trees removed from the parkways because of the emerald ash borer infestation, and the cost of tree replacement, the Reforestation Plan will likely take 3-4 years.
